Christ
Put others
Before himself.
He made himself nothing
And took on the nature of a servant.
We cannot
Both, at the same time
Be advocates of ourselves
And advocates of others.
We cannot serve two masters.
This is the hitch
We find in our lives
When we argue
Or posture
Or defend ourselves
This hitch
In my chest
Like a pillar of stone
Keeping me from
Genuinely caring about
And doing
What’s best
For you.
Wherever it contradicts
The law of me.
