Alive

Ephesians 5:13-14
But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Isaiah 26:19
But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy. Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

Isaiah 60:1
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.

Romans 6:13
Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Awaken to God
Oh my soul
Yawn and stretch
Feel the sunlight
Warm against your skin
A womb of sunlight
Presses blazing orange palms
Against your eyelids

Awake, my soul
Unfurl! Outstretch!
Arms wide, legs wide
Know the love of God
That surrounds you
Drink Him in, you desert places
Drink the Lord
Taste and see
That He is good
And warm
Satisfying
And beautiful

Awake, my soul
To what has been missing
Learn to gorge your life
With God

So many of us
Settle for infrequent
Showers

I have settled.

But I was created
To bathe, to drink, to breathe
Forever light, to be
Always consumed.
Always consumed.

As if the sun itself
Were only a womb
And I, inside

Blazing fetus.
God’s child.
