God made these mountains.
I’m sure He does not marvel
like I do
at them. He made me to marvel.
Gave me eyes for their green backs
arched into the sky and rain
The massive beast
crouched s/where between
the low place where I live
and the heavens I don’t understand
I alway long to climb up on his back
grab two handfuls of his green mane
and see where he will take me.
